REDES program chooses its three winners
10 research protocols were presented by medical students from the University of Panama

The first edition of the REDES program, which took place between January and March 2023, has already chosen its three winners, after the presentation of 10 research protocols by the medical students of the University of Panama.


1st place - Group #7: Prevalence and factors associated with cigarette and marijuana use in students of the University of Panama, second semester 2023.


2nd place - Group #2: Effectiveness of BCG vaccine against childhood tuberculosis in patients 0 - 14 years old. Dr. José Renán Esquivel Hospital 2020 - 2022.


                    3rd place - Group #10: Prevalence of folate and vitamin B12 deficiency during the first trimester of pregnancy, Policlínica JJ Vallarino, June to December 2023.

                    REDES is the first program for training researchers and strengthening soft skills, which was aimed at students of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Panama, as part of a support agreement with the CEVAXIN Research Center.

                    It was also supported by the Clinical Research Center of the School of Medicine, the University of Panama, the Panamanian College of Physicians and the National Secretariat of Science, Technology and Innovation.

                    We congratulate all the winners and are pleased to have renewed for the second consecutive year this important scientific and academic collaboration agreement with the Association of Medical Students of the University of Panama (AEMP), with the aim of supporting the development of projects on vaccine-preventable diseases and public health.
